“Mirotic,” the title track off Dong Bang Shin Ki’s 4th Korean album has been deemed “inappropriate” for youths by the Commission of Youth Protection. Not surprisingly, much earlier on, there was speculation in a lot of internet forums discussing the content of the lyrics to “Mirotic.” Fans tried to decipher the meaning of the inclusion of the words “red ocean” and “crystal” to represent “hymen” and “sperm,” respectively.
Though the Commission has not explicitly stated why they feel the song is not suitable for teens and young adults, the song is now not allowed to be played on television programs or radio broadcasts until after 10PM. The 4th album will also have the “Unsuitable for people under 19″ sticker affixed to it. This brings up the question as to whether or not there will be a “clean” version of “Mirotic” released in the future, and whether or not they’ll still perform the original song on award shows that come later in the year.
Also deemed inappropriate by the Commission was Rain’s “Rainism,” Solbi’s “Do it Do it” and Dynamic Duo’s “Make Up Sex.” As for Rain, we know why he got banned and it’s quite evident from the name of Dynamic Duo’s song why they would get banned, but you’ve got to go into all sorts of deep ends to try to come up with the hymen/sperm interpretations of DBSK’s song. SM Entertainment is said to be debating with the Commission right now for further explanation of the ban.

Honestly, this situation was kinda unnecessary.
450,000 albums already sold, multiple performances, promotions are already done, it’s a little to late.
I think that’s stupid. I mean red ocean, did they ever think that it means the cassies? I mean they literally are a red ocean. I don’t know about crystals, that line is a bit fishy but, seriously you think that the cassies will think like that? they’re just gonna think it’s some random lyrics. This is just outrageous, the cassies are gonna be so pissed xD. Personally i think that the guys that banned this song was getting jealous because all their wives were getting into dbsk and checking them out ._.
I’m sure SM will find a way, bribary or whatever to get the song unbanned.
Also, most cassies already bought the cd and if not they’ll find a way to buy it, they have their ways lol.

english translations don’t cut it, if you look directly at the korean lyrics it’s not hard to see why it was banned..

Honestly, the only way to get red ocean and crystal to mean the hymen and sperm respectively is if you have a dirty mind to begin with. A true fan would know that red ocean is pretty much the color of the Cassies and any smart person knows that sperm doesn’t flow through the veins. Th government just wanted not to seem biased for banning Rainism and was like “hey let’s see if any other songs could be derived the wrong way”

I believed they ‘banned’ MIKA and Jason Mratz albums, too. Industry experts, music critics and such are actually up in arms. They believe it would do their already ailing music industry more damage as creativity does not thrive in a stifling environment.
Reminds me of the Beatles’ classic song “Let It Be”. No it was not banned! lol But there’s a line there that says: “…in times of trouble mother Mary comes to me…speaking words of wisdom…let it be…let it be…” So called music experts were lauding it for its religious references aka ‘mother Mary’…Gee, I even heard a gospel version of that song! Ngek! Only to find out decades later that ‘mother Mary’ was a reference to ‘Mary Jane’. My point, lyrics are a play of words that only the one who pens it is privy to its real meaning.

i don’t know where people are getting that the lyrics are saying that the crystal is flowing THROUGH the veins, the korean lyrics don’t say that ANYWHERE, the lyrics simply state that “my veins burn and my hundred million crystals are flowing”.
