And so the world explodes, the universes malign and the fans go crazy. We will bring you full coverage of the 10th anniversary of MNet’s MKMF Awards later, but a recap of the distribution of the biggest awards and our pick for gem of the night:

Wonder Girls win Song of the Year, whooping all the big boys in the house

The Wonder Girls won Song of the Year specifically for “Nobody,” but not a single person can deny the outrageous popularity of their songs from this year (”So Hot” included), which this award reflects. The Wonderfulls better watch themselves on the streets though, because VIPs and Cassiopeians are a comin’.

Big Bang wins Best Male Group of the Year, Best Artist of the Year

Cassiopeians feel the burn, VIPs gloat. Big Bang won the two arguably biggest awards of the year, Best Male Group and Best Artist of the Year. They truly had an impressive year, with more than enough Japanese releases, two Korean mini-albums, and a full length Korean album. Is this an indication for the rest of the award shows to come? Will the Big Bang vs. DBSK war rage on?

DBSK gets a slap in the face

No malice intended, but DBSK’s cadres were definitely expecting more. They predicted DBSK to sweep the awards this year based on the number of leads they had in the polls…but then reality came crashing. DBSK got none of the big awards, but did manage to snag the last (somewhat) important award, “Album of the Year,” which was probably MKMF’s consolation prize for the losing popular group. (They also won Best Overseas, Mobile Popularity, Style, Netizen Popularity.)

TOP kisses Hyori

People will try to make this show about DBSK being the biggest losers of the year, but they were confused. Bemuddled. Blinded. Where the true gem of the show lied was in TOP kissing Hyori. While many may feel otherwise, Hyori only got to kiss TOP, but TOP got to kiss Hyori. That’s where the bragging rights go.

Stay tuned for the rest of Seoulbeats’ coverage on this year’s MKMF awards!
