Trouble is not over for Choi Jin Shil’s estate. After the shocking and heartbreaking death of the actress on October 2nd, many have been speculating about the fate of her wealth but most importantly her children. The father, Jo Seong Min, is claiming responsibility over Jin Sil’s estate and also seems to be planning on taking back the children he abandoned after his divorce to Choi 4 years ago.

Choi Jin Sil’s brother, Choi Jin Yeong, wants to have custody of the children, planning on adopting them sometime soon. Though Jo has said that it was the kids that wanted to be taken care of by Choi’s family and that he wants to ensure the safety of Choi Jin Shil’s estate until they turn 18, it seems as if he will respect those wishes no longer. He feels that he must be the third party in charge of Choi Jin Shil’s properties while the brother and, I think, most of the general public, feels that Jo has no right to claim responsibility for the late Choi’s property-or children.

Jo Seong Min should not get custody of his children. He is known to have cheated on Choi, bringing other women home in front of his children, he has beaten Choi, not an isolated incident, but there was a time when the beating was so bad as to land Choi Jin Shil in the hospital - and in the media and his children, at five and seven, requested to be with Choi’s family instead of him after their mother died. According to Choi Jin Yeong, his niece and nephew don’t even know that their father exists.

In terms of property, this man has no right, legal or otherwise to try and manage the estate that Choi Jin Shil has left behind. He abused this woman, mentally and physically for years, and now he wants to swoop in and take over the property she earned with her own hard work? His argument is this: because the kids will inherit the property when they turn 18, he, as their father, should control it until then. But the glaring question is like I stated above, he divorced Choi and he gave up custody of his children, so what right does he have now?
As with any story in the media and watched by us, the general public, the whole story is not known. There is always the possibility that Jo Seong Min has changed and has the best interests of his children and Choi’s property at heart. But for me, considering his past and the reluctance of the children to even be with him during this hard time, it is evident that he has no legal right over Choi’s estate; and in terms of the children, no real right to step in now as father.

If the bastard Jo Seoung Min gets the property or anything that has to do with this situation then i will lose faith in life, I hope the Korean government does the right thing and give everything to Choi Jin Yeong and the Choi family because you know that they love the kids, and they wont just leave them like there “father” did. Choi Jin Sil’s husband is a real piece of work. She accused him of cheating on her with the owner of a bar. He denied it saying that they were just business partners. He then went on to marry the bar lady ten months after his divorce to Choi Jin Sil.
While Choi and Jo were married, he borrowed money from her brother and mother because he was in debt. He’s not good at managing his finances.

Wow, if he gave up his children it would only be right that the Choi family takes care of the children and the estate. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Who knows, if he get’s the kids and money he might go into a repercussion and bring women home infront of his children , or maybe he’d beat them. Or he might try to counter the chances of the kids getting the estate, claiming it for himself. Hopefully The right decision will be made…
