After investing a bomb in a Diane Martel video, SM has decided to chuck it out the door, reducing the disaster of an MV to a short promo clip. According to sources, the Cha Eun Taek version will be the official video for promotions both in the US and other parts of the world. Now this is what happens when ambition gets to your head.
As for BoA, “Eat You Up” has met with a satisfying response, shooting up the ranks to number one on the “Top Songs” dance charts for iTunes Italy and iTunes Japan. In the meantime, she’s also to remain in the US to prepare for her official debut, that is, official appearances in the States. She’s said to be residing in LA till her debut plans are solidified. While all this is going on, expect to see “Eat You Up” sprouting up in the 300 music sites (in 30 countries), as promised by SM.
Besides all the full MV uploads on YouTube, this is probably what’s left of Diane Martel for “Eat You Up”:

YAY! I’m First!
Good.. I know Diane Martel was big and great but this is so far her most scrappy works.
Glad they decided to take it down, the MV for the Asia market are much better. Even the BoA stylist in behind the scene said to Diane that he was going to make BoA pretty but cool, since sexy is not her thing..
Good luck for BoA, I really do hope she will success. With better song and MV next time.
Good! Chuck that shit & Diane OUT!
It’s better promotion for BoA with the Asian version. I don’t exactly like this song however it’s catchy. I wish her luck for trying to break into the US Music Industry. At least she has some hope with the Asian version, the American version was just something people could make an asian-stereotype parody of.
THANK GOD.
Dude, I was literally sitting there thinking if they were that stupid enough to have that piece of trash be exposed to America.
I feel sorry for LSM in hiring such a big name and producing this kind of crap.
THANK GOD.
Diane MArtel made a crappy ass video. She should be dealt with accordingly.
6th!!!!!!! ORE WA GUNDAM!!!!!!!!
YAY! Thank God indeed.
well since they’ve changed the MV.. could they now change the song or the voice.. oopps, i guess not.
didn’t they see this was a bad idea as diane martel started telling them how the mv was going to play out? (”there’s gonna be a desert. and some snow. maybe on the moon. ALRIGHT!”) shouldn’t they have suspected then that it was gonna be baaaad? silly sm. well, they have enough money to throw around for directors to make bad mv’s.
thnaks goodness!
and i thought BOA’s US debu will be jeopardized by DM’s video!
there is still hope!
just leave out the chicken breast mind controlling part and you’ll be okay… (or maybe not) but still!best of luck!
SM thinks this time around…
good choice… i prefer her Korean version for the MV
Can I get an amen!!!!!!
Thank you Jesus. HE answers prayer. I think Ms. Diane Martel needs to go the the Rivera and think about her career. Unless she intentionally flopped that one for a pay check. Her contract must be tight because SM should at least get 75% of their monies back. She’s laughing all the way to the bank.
Go Boa!!!
Damn…$500 down the drain…they made that MV for nothing.
But yay for the power of bad reviews!!! lol
Thank you for making the right choice, SM. Thank you.
Lol a new video wont make this skanks singing any better. flop flop flop.
… her face looks really bizarre on the first pic . =___=;;
Also, her speaking is waaaaaaay too FOB. There’s tolerable FOB accents, and then just plain annoying ones … BoA’s falls on the second category . I can’t listen to her song without cringing and feeling ashamed for her.
her voice sucks… the only thing that’s going for this girl is her dancing. nothing else
She can barely dance. lol
BoA fans are gonna be in for harsh reality. lol britney spears at the VMA’s was a better dancer than boa LMAO.
Just kidding, lol. but britney right now is totally a better dancer, as usual. britney is going to finally get to see her little wannabe clone in action. lol
Good move. It’s not like the Asian MV is particularly good, but it’s better than the nonsense Diane Martel put together.
Fighting, BoA! I don’t know how successful she’ll be, but I am curious to see her actively promoting.
hah that’s hilarious, i guess sm really cares about what the online netizens say about their artists.
hey look on itunes dance chart, it’s #2 in US right now, too! yayyyy boaaaaaaaaaaaa~
THANK GOD
i’m so happy
:]
That us one sucked arse
oohh thank heavens! the American Version sucks! Looks like a video that we edit for school. I’m not too fond of the song but the Asian MV is so much more better than the American MV.
AND THE ANGELS REJOICE!!!!
yess!!!!!!!
so happy right now. the diane martel version was truly awful (orange lipstick and all)
on the other hand, though, the korean version has nothing to do with the song =/
now i wish they’d chosen different lyrics -_-
It doesn’t matter what mv is used, she’s still a dud and her fans buying up multiple copies to increase her ranking, as if the itunes dance chart matters, are not gonna make any difference. The real test is the billboard hot 100 and once people hear her do any kind of interview, it’s really over! She probably can’t even explain her own song without a translator. People who don’t know her are either gonna laugh at her or completely ignore her. No crossover appeal whatsoever.
good!!!!!! omg the asian version is soooooo much better!!!!! i love the dance moves there!!!!!!!!!!
chuck Boa out with her. neither of them aren’t that great in my opinion
yeah you can call it ambition but it’s all part of the business. they hired Martel thinking she’ll be able to “please” the audience, since she’s american after all. they should’ve taken the risk with the korean director in the first place. they wanted to bring BOA [and Korea in a way] to the american entertainment anyway, so it’s better to have a little korean touch in the first place.
wow. sm has just realized that diane cartel’s version was the worst mv ever?
I thought the mv directed by diane martel was horrible. I dont know i get this vibe that DIANE did a crappy job because they were asians or that she wasnt a big well known singer in america. I dont know, usually her works are pretty good , but damn,
Thank God
Oh well, who knows? Maybe it’s LSM who didn’t pay much for the production. If LSM is going to be stingy then Diane Martel has every right to do the same too.
@zerohunderd …LMFAO (and yes I said hunderd I am country u know lol)
good now if they just got rid of the song
Since they threw this version away because netizens criticized, I wonder if they’ll take BoA out of the US for the same reason… I don’t know about the rest of you, but I would like this 100 times more if it were in Japanese or Korean. With different lyrics. And not released in the US.
yup yup THANK GOD!!
wow number 1 in italy? i really didn’t think she’d do anything with that song outside of asia. but whoot! go boa! and good thing they got rid of that horrid video.
thank god the mv really was sh*t
thank GOD. Martel’s music video was a real joke.. I’m so glad they decided to stick to the Asian one.
Ah! Thank GOD is right! That English MV was horrible! The Korean one is so much better. Hopefully Dian Martel is professional enough that she won’t take it personally. It might just be me, but it seemed like she was trying to sabotage Boa’s debut. I’ve seen some of her other work and none of them were this bad.
too bad ‘dance’ charts mean jack crap on itunes…=(
hopefully she can get into ‘top songs’ 100 section!
cause i’m having a hunch she won’t even make it to the top 10 for top songs just b/c you got Beyonce, Britney Spear, T.I., Pink, Jason Mraz, Kanye West, Rihanna dominating the top songs chart.
good choice..although the asian version of the video is not that great, it is DEFINITELY better than the horrid american version
lol yess. i’m so glad LSM realized the american one sucked.
Well goodbye Diane Martel. The video was too cheap and didn’t wow anyone, but I still don’t like the Asian ver. And the song still isn’t great to my ears…
BTW
I would like to add that I practically jumped out of my seat when I read this article during school
I received a lot of awkward stares
But I was just so happy
wow, at least SM made one good move
The reason why she’s at the top of any charts is because of her fans. So…she’s marketing herself pretty well to people WHO ALREADY KNOW WHO SHE IS!
Her team needs to market her to people who DON’T KNOW HER! What’s the use of being at the top of any chart, if you have the same ol’ fans??? Isn’t the point of breaking into a market to get a new audience???
She’s failing. I’m sorry, but she is.
ahhh! good thing the US video is up and out.. because what diane martel did was just plain bloody crap. I’ll say it now, and also add it on to others who are saying it too.
THIS VID MADE BY DIANE MARTEL WAS CRAP!
It made me retch and claw my eyes out at the horrible ’so called digital effects’. I would’ve done a better job making this with my camera.
If the US media got a hold of this video made by diane martel, my oh, my…
Diane Martel made that horrible MV? I actually liked her other stuff… I am surprised that she did such a horrible job on BoA’s.
Thank goodness. The asian version is 100X better.
WOOOOT What a wise decision!!
The Korean MV rocks like hell. I love it.
Diane Martel’s MV was so unflattering
It was absolutely horrible!!
Thank God.
The American Version looked like pure trash.
Even with the Korean version though, I still think BoA’s got a lot of work to do before she gets big in the U.S. But hey, at least now she has a semi-chance.
it’s not like it’s gonna make a difference.
she’s going to fail, and we know it.
if she can’t get that disgusting accent out of her english she’s OUT.
omg, i knew sm had SOME SENSE.
good riddance.
@ riiiiiiiiight: at least, at least that disgusting mv is gone. yeah her accent needs a lot of work. but heck that mv just made me hit the screen. plus diane martel thinks asians are somewhat inferior. wasnt she the one who said ” i didn’t know an asian could do that”. ==”.
THANK GOODNESS!
The AMERICAN VERSION SUCKED! And me and my friends agree! The Korean version was WAY better!
thank GOD
yayy for the “american version” getting thrown out.
funny story: i was working on a pset in one of my friend’s room when my friend’s friend [who doesn't listen to asian music or follow the asian music scene] comes in and starts playing “eat you up” on his computer. i talked to him about the song and he absolutely LOVES it. then, i mentioned the asian version of the mv and he was like omg, there’s an asian version of the mv? i’ve only seen the american version. and i was like oh yeah, there is an asian version. he totally agrees that the asian version straight up beats the american version and wonders why the asian version wasn’t promoted as the main version.
i’m so glad the asian version is now the main version because that american version was seriously a mess.
OHTHANKGOD! Cos the Korean MV really pwned the US version, thank God they finally realized that.
with the people who said - - she doesn’t have crossover appeal, and that she’s singing to the same group of faithful fans.
we have to accept the fact that right now, the world is still in a bad place where racial equity is concerned. the reason why crouching tiger, hidden dragon kicked ass in the western world was because it enforced a stereotype, all asians are kung-fu masters. movies that hinted at jacky chan being a bit western bombed at the box office.
the lesson to be learned? let’s just be ourselves, we’re asians, and it’s ok to be this way. if they just made the song and the mv true to who we are, i think we might have made more of an impact. we would’ve gotten respect.
asian women don’t eat people up, we don’t even joke about it. lol who are we kidding? problem is BOA, your song tries too hard - - - let’s make others want to imitate us, not the other way around.
unless you’re talking the land of america: boa sojourns, diane martel keeps working (on horrible MV for “asian women”.)
thank god!!! the korean version is freaking amazing and the american version is a piece of crap, honestly. It has bad editing, is random and does not make any sense. woo hoo! good luck boa.
but the korean version doesnt make sense either o.o;;
i thought the diane version was bad but also ok because it shows boa’s dancing and she looks pretty in some shots. but overall i think the korean version was better. though it has nothing to do with the song o.O”
LMAO @ O.o random comment. YAY~ SM is clever to use the Asia version! GO BOA~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FIGHTING!!!
called it =)
OMFG… :O..i thought it will nvn happen..THANK GOD!! i realli love lee so man this time.!! i can breath nowwwwww!!
considering the asia mv has the theme of BoA eating up the competition instead sexually like the American one i think it fits BoA’s image better.
OMG THANK GOD ><… but i cant wait to buy her album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D =D
AND THE FANs WINN!!
THANK GOODNESS!!!!! SM ENTERTAINMENT ISN’T DUMB!!!
Even though they spent so much for the MV, I’m glad they got rid of that piece of crap.
If that’s the case Angel, then people are gonna be laughing even harder at this cheesy mv than the american one! Boa is no competition to anyone here in the states! She can’t even compete against Miley Cyrus, and that’s bad!
thanks god… smart decision. they shouldn’t even have invested into the us movie anyways, what a waste of money. lol
